After hearing this story a number of questions accrued to me including: if the plant is genetically altered could that change the geometry of the pollen grain? After all it is geometry of the pollen grain that determines its species and creates a ‘sexual fit’ between the pollen grain and the flower in question. Pollen is either carried or drifts in the air and it is seemingly by random chance that the pollen finds its geometric counter point (or mate). It is this random chance encounter is what allows for the passing on of genetic information and subsequent re-generation of a new life. After the DNA is passed on the flower wilts and new seeds are produced.
